Recommendations Monitoring

Recommendations Monitoring

Monitoring ensures ministries are held accountable for implementing RCY’s recommendations, rather than merely agreeing to them.

Our job is to separate real change from political lip-service.

Why It Matters

When recommendations sit idle, children and youth continue to suffer. Accountability isn’t optional. It’s urgent. Government commitments must be tracked, verified, and when necessary, publicly challenged.

  • 74% of recommendations are incomplete, delayed, or stagnant.
  • Ministries struggle with Indigenous engagement and cross-ministry collaboration.
  • Too many action plans lack urgency or measurable change.

Tracking Government Progress on Recommendations

The Representative for Children and Youth (RCY) issues recommendations to improve services for children, youth, and families. Our monitoring process ensures these recommendations lead to meaningful change.

We continue to push for government accountability, interministerial collaboration, and Indigenous engagement in service improvements.
