Empower Young People. Inform Communities. Advance Change.

At RCY, we believe that knowledge is power. When young people understand their rights, they are better equipped to navigate systems, advocate for themselves, and create change.

Our workshops and presentations are designed to meet young people and communities where they are: in schools, youth centers, community halls, and online.

Whether you’re a youth with lived experience in care, a young person struggling to navigate government systems, a Youth Advisor Council (YAC), a service provider, an educator, or a community ally, our sessions provide authentic conversation, valuable information, and clear pathways to action.

For Youth

We offer interactive, youth-informed workshops that are engaging, affirming, and grounded in real-life experiences. These sessions can be tailored for children, youth and young adults and focus on:

  • Your Rights – What rights do you have under the UNCRC, UNDRIP, UNCRPD, and provincial legislation? How do these rights manifest in your daily life?
  • The Role of RCY: Who we are, what we do, and how we can support you.
  • Speak4Yourself – How to advocate for yourself and others.
  • Wellness & Belonging – Creating safety, connection, and identity in systems that frequently overlook these aspects.

Workshops are offered in person or virtually and facilitated by RCY staff.

The voices of youth are central. We don’t talk at youth; we talk with them.

For Communities: Raise Awareness, Encourage Accountability

We offer tailored presentations and dialogues for community organizations, educators, caregivers, service providers, and local governments. The benefit of these sessions is that they assist adults and systems in understanding:

    • The role of the RCY: who we are, what we do, and how we can support children, youth and young adults in your communities.
    • The lived realities of young people with disabilities, youth in care, in custody, or accessing mental health or substance misuse services.
    • The rights of young people under BC law and international standards (UNCRC, UNCRPD, UNDRIP).
    • RCY’s advocacy and systemic review work and its implications for your community.
    • How to establish safer, more accountable, and rights-affirming environments for young people to thrive.

Presentations on RCY Reports

Our office regularly releases in-depth reports that expose gaps, harms, and inequities in the systems designed to protect and support young people. These aren’t just publications; they’re calls to action. We offer facilitated sessions that break down key findings and recommendations from our reports and help communities understand:

  • What the data and stories tell us.
  • How systemic failures manifest in practice.
  • What changes are needed, and who is accountable?
  • How your organization or community can respond and lead effectively.

Whether it’s a recent systemic review or a legacy report that still holds weight, we’ll work with you to unpack the content and connect it to your context.

Reports don’t gather dust here. We take them off the shelf and into the room, where they can challenge assumptions, provoke conversations, and drive action.
