Dr. Jennifer Charlesworth has been British Columbia’s Representative for Children and Youth since 2018. She has dedicated her professional life to the well-being of young people and has worked in the fields of social care and health care since 1977.

An award-winning educator, author, and advocate, Dr. Jennifer Charlesworth has served as BC’s Representative for Children and Youth since 2018, drawing on 48 years of experience across government, community services, and academia. Her focus is child and youth well-being, with particular focus on Indigenous jurisdiction in child welfare, mental health and substance use care, disability supports, early-years investment, quality of care and safer transitions from care.
