On April 16 & 17 2015, the Representative together with the Delegated Aboriginal Agencies and MCFD hosted a Forum for Change Reconciliation for Today’s First Nations, Metis & Aboriginal Children Through Custom Adoption and Lifelong Family and Tribal Connections event in Nanaimo. The forum was an empowering demonstration of the collaboration necessary to ensure that Aboriginal children and youth in government care are supported in ways that will establish secure and lifelong connections to their family and their cultural heritage.
A special thank you to everyone who was able to attend and share their experince and insights to help pave a better path forward for custom adoptions and permanency planning for First Nations and Aboriginal children and youth in B.C. government care.
