Text FAQs

Who can use the service?

Is texting RCY free?

When you text us, standard text message rates apply. This means the cost to text us depends on your mobile plan. Contact your service provider about your plan if you are unsure.

Will the number show up on anyone’s phone bill?

This will depend on your mobile plan and how many texts you get per month.

Will my texts really be confidential?

Yes, what you say will be kept private unless you or someone else is in immediate danger. In that case, the law requires us to notify authorities to make sure everyone is safe.

Do I have to say who I am?

Yes. In order for us to help you as best we can, we will need your name. RCY will keep your identity anonymous. This means that we will not tell anyone that you reached out to our office.

Who will I be talking to?

You will be talking to an Intake Advocate, which is a person who can help you find solutions to your problem. You may be transferred to an Advocate if your situation is complex. The Advocate will work with you to find solutions.

Can I text the number using a third-party messaging app like iMessage or WhatsApp?

Yes, if it allows texting to a standard phone number.
